Mariya Angelova, Senior Counsellor

Pronouns: she / her

Hi, I am Mariya!

Opening up to another person about our troubles and personal lives can be daunting, yet it can empower us to bring about positive change in ourselves and our relationships. As a counsellor, I take the approach of co-creating solutions with my clients in a safe and supportive space. I believe every individual is able to make better choices and a difference for themselves. A conversation is a great first step!

I started my career as a teacher for both adolescent and adult learners before moving onto full-time counselling. Psychology has been a strong area of interest for me since young and after supporting some of my students in their personal challenges, I decided to further my education and move on to a counselling role. Since then, I have worked in a secondary school, providing social-emotional counselling and overseeing the career guidance programme for 7 years.

My area of expertise is working with adolescents, families and adults and my practice is informed by Choice Theory Reality Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
