Vanessa Yang, Practicum Counsellor
Pronouns: she / her
Hello! My name is Vanessa. I am a counsellor-in-training, currently pursuing my Master of Counselling at Monash University (graduating in 2023).
‘Everyone deserves to be happy’ is a quote I firmly believe in and one that has driven me to pursue a path in the mental health field. Back when I was volunteering at a mental health hotline, I worked extensively with adolescents and young adults who were struggling with life, desperate to find a way out yet did not know how. I hope I can be the one helping them see the light.
My goal as a counsellor is to establish a supportive relationship with my clients, create a safe space for them to be heard, guide them to have a deeper understanding of themselves and ultimately empower them to reach their fullest potential.
Having grown up in Hong Kong, I can speak fluent Cantonese, English and Mandarin.

More About Me
I am a HUGE music lover. I love singing and playing the guitar. It’s my way of expressing feelings and emotions.
My dream is to open my own cafe. I have always found cafes very therapeutic. Imagine yourself sipping coffee and just gazing at the streets! I hope I can provide this sense of calmness to others.
